Sales begin from preparation
Think about attending an exhibition as a project. What do You do first when You begin a new project? You set a goal – what You want to accomplish (boost Your sales, create new service and etc.) and plan – how You achieve this goal.
So, when You think about attending an exhibition start from:
- Planning the project – what tasks You need to do before exhibition and how long it will take to do them.
- Creating potential client list – what clients You want to meet, how many meetings You want to have.
- Booking the meetings – call potential clients or send them invitation to meet You at the event. More meetings – more possibilities to sell.
- Estimating real costs and ROI of attending – Your team work hours, attendee fee and possible sales – is it worth to attend?
Meetings and follow-up
Do not forget to write brief summary after every meeting. This will take few minutes, but information will be fresh as in few hours You will forget it. Notes will help You to understand:
- what are clients needs and requirements;
- what do You need to do to close the deal.
And to plan follow-up tasks: maybe a client does not need Your service at the moment but may need them in few months.

Set goals to every team member before the exhibition and do not forget to measure results. Sales funnel and pipeline will help to understand:
- Was Your goal achieved?
- How every team member performed?
- What was done right and from what You can learn?
- Do You need to change/improve process and how?
